Twitching
Rarity hunting, with perhaps an element of nervous excitement, particularly if there is the possibility of a lifer. Twitchers are very mobile and may travel great distances to see rare birds, of which they hear through their efficient 'grapevine'. They may also be known as 'tickers', 'tick-hunters', 'listers' or 'birders', the latter two terms being used mainly in North America where 'birding', as opposed to 'birdwatching' is much more popular than in the British Isles. From Peter Weaver's Birdwatcher's Dictionary
