Pallas's Sandgrouse

Syrrhaptes paradoxus

These birds were forced into long distance movements from their breeding grounds on the steppes by late lying snow in several years from 1859 to 1908. The biggest was in 1888 and breeding took place subsequently near Elgin (Scotland) and in Yorkshire and probably in Norfolk and Suffolk.
