Lady Amherst's Pheasant
Chrysolophus amherstiae
Distribution Britain 9 (-30.8%) Ireland 0
Numbers breeding: Britain 50 RBBP individuals Ireland 0
European status: 75 (100% in Britain and Ireland =1)
British population trend: possibly on the way out?
This is another very secretive woodland pheasant in several places but particularly successfully on the Bedfordshire/Buckinghamshire border. The population here seems to be in decline and may be less than 100 birds. There may be a handful of birds elsewhere e.g. Sussex, Hampshire, Norfolk and Cheshire. More concern of the same sort!
